InlandStrong: Library & Community Resources During Windstorm 2015
With low temperatures and thousands still without power, many residents of Spokane are looking for ways to stay warm, keep in touch, and find essential services.
Here is a current list of community resources. We will share additional resources as they become available at www.spokanelibrary.org/inlandstrong/.
Overnight and day-use warming centers
- Spokane Regional Health District list of warming centers
- A list of additional warming centers compiled by the City of Spokane
- Five Spokane Public Schools are open Friday, November 20th

Downed trees and power outages
- SNAP can help with housing and roof repair
- An up-to-date map of trees currently blocking streets
- Information on outages for customers on Avista power
- A list of licensed arborists to help with tree and large tree debris removal
For safety, Avista is reminding citizens to treat any downed power line as a live line. Do not touch it, and call Avista at (800) 227-9187.
In addition to these resources, the City has extended curbside pickup for yard waste for two weeks (through December 18, 2015) and is accepting large emergency storm debris for free at the Northside Landfill, the Waste to Energy Plant and the North County Transfer Station. 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember phone number for people to call for health and human service information and referrals and other assistance to meet their needs. win211.org.
Library Status Update:
Library Hours extended to 8:00pm through Saturday at Downtown, East Side, Hillyard, and Shadle
Shadle and Downtown will both be open Sunday, November 22nd from 1pm – 5pm
Parking will be free on Sunday at the Downtown Library parking lot, courtesy of Diamond Parking!
An update on late fees and overdue material:
- All late fees are being waived on all items that were due between Monday, November 16 and Monday, November 30th
- Due dates are extended until November 30th
- Lost materials cannot be waived
You may not see these changes reflected on your account immediately. Please be patient and rest assured we will not be charging fees for materials due during this period.

- Hillyard open 10:00:am – 8:00pm
- Indian Trail open 10:00am – 6:00pm
(No Internet access) - Shadle open 10:00am – 8:00pm
- South Hill – closed
