Spokane Public Schools Update
Our fantastic partner, Spokane Public Schools wants to share the following message with all of our customers:
As of 5 p.m. this Sunday evening 22 of our schools are still not operational. We are also experiencing routes to schools with large pieces of debris and downed power lines.
A decision has been made to cancel school district wide for Monday, November 23rd so that Avista crews and maintenance staff can clear pathways.
We will continue to have warming centers and food service available at 5 of our schools from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Rogers High School
- Glover Middle School
- Salk Middle School
- Grant Elementary School
- Ferris High School
We understand the hardship this decision puts on our families, and ask for your patience and understanding as we work around the clock with Avista and maintenance staff to open our schools.
A decision for for Tuesday will be made Monday evening after 5 p.m.
Thanksgiving Meals
Spokane County United Way has compiled a list (.pdf) of Thanksgiving meals open to the public, as well as resources available to help with Thanksgiving meal planning.
Your library is here for you
Please check our home page for information on hours during the week of November 22nd. Our South Hill branch will re-open as soon as power is restored. www.spokanelibrary.org
The recovery efforts and regional coordination of resources for restoration and recovery continues following the historic windstorm.
We would like to thank all of the nonprofits in the region for their response to helping the public. Thank you to the utility crews throughout the region and the west coast for their around the clock efforts to restore power. Volunteers continue to go door-to-door to check on homes without power.
